Setting up your email in Microsoft Outlook 2010

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook 2010 to work with your e-mail account.

To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Microsoft Outlook 2010

Select File > Info and click the Account Settings button.

Under the tabs, you will see plenty of useful options, the New option lets you configure a new email account.
Change button will open your account settings so you can view/modify your previously configured email account settings.

To configure a new email account, click on the New icon. A wizard will appear that will help you through the setup process. Skip all the boxes and select Manually Configure Settings at the bottom.

Next you will choose Internet E-mail and click Next.

In the email settings, you will enter all your information.

Your Name: Your name or company name.
Email Address: You full email email address
Account Type: POP3
Incoming Mail Server: mail.domain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)  Example: mail.gowebsolutions.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.domain.com (or .net, .org, etc.)  Example: mail.gowebsolutions.com
User Name: Your full email address
Password: Password assigned to your for your Email Account (Make sure Remember Password is checked)
Deliver Messages to: New Outlook Data File

Then click on More Settings

In Internet E-mail Settings, General tab, you can choose to create a name for this account. This becomes useful if you are setting up more then one account. You can also leave this blank if you choose.

Next, click on the Outgoing Server tab.

Under the Outgoing Server tab, make sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Use same settings as my incoming mail server should automatically be selected.

Next, click on the Advanced tab.

Under the Advanced tab, the port settings should be:

Incoming server port: 110
Outgoing server (SMTP): 25 or 26. Some internet providers block port 25, so you will need to change this to 26. Try port 25 first and test the account.

Click OK, then hit the Test Account Settings button.

If the test fails, go back to the More Settings box and change your outgoing server port to 26 and test again.

Please make sure to double check all your spellings in all fields if it still is not working.
