9 Easy Ways to Promote Your Blog

There is a plethora of benefits to blogging for small businesses. For one, it’s a powerful tool for building a strong online presence. It is a great way to keep your customers informed about new developments, products and achievements. It’s also a great tool for establishing yourself as an expert in your field and building credibility in your community. A blog helps promote your brand and keep your customers well informed.

Not only is blogging a good tool for keeping your customers in the know, but it is good for better search engine rankings. Keeping your website updated with new content related to your industry helps to gain top search engine placement for your target keywords.

The key to getting more people to read your blog posts is to create good content and get it out there, for more tips, check out 101+ Blogging Ideas to Make Blogging Easy. Once you publish your blog post, you can promote your content in various ways. Here are 9 easy ways to do so.

SEO

Google will crawl your website for updates and index new pages and posts. You want to make sure your website is being indexed the way you would want your content to be found in the search engines. Make sure you’re using your keywords in the title tag, header and throughout the article, but in a natural way. The best practice is to write for the human reader and not so much for search engines. Also, make sure that you’re publishing original content and not copying from another website or blog.

Share Buttons

Making your website content easy to share helps your customers easily share your products or services with their social network. To learn more about social share buttons read “Get More Website Traffic In 7 Minutes with Social Sharing”.

Facebook Update

On Oct. 4th it was announced that Facebook hit 1 billion active users. Are you actively using Facebook to grow your business? Being active on Facebook and having a good number of followers works best when distributing your blog content. Updating your facebook page with your latest blog post can skyrocket traffic to your website faster than Google can find and index your new post.

Twitter Update

Twitter is great for posting links with a short (140 characters) description. It’s good practice to make sure you’re using your keywords and hash tags in your Twitter posts. Unlike Facebook, Twitter posts are searchable. Using keywords and hash tags helps searchers to find your content easily.

Google+ Update

Google+ is becoming more and more important for businesses. Your Google+ page and recent posts, is eligible to show up on the right-hand side of Google’s Search Engine Results Page (SERP), if Google finds your content relevant to it’s customer’s search.

Feedburner

If you have a blog, syndicating your content allows your customers to subscribe to your blog and receive new posts to their email inbox or their feed reader. FeedBurner is a RSS feed service for bloggers, podcasters, and other web-based content publishers. It’s easy to setup and use right away.

Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking is a great way to generate fast traffic to your site. Sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit and del.icio.us allow you to bookmark website links on the web and share them with other users. Bookmarking also helps to build quality backlinks to your site, pages and posts. Having quality backlinks is the key to better search engine rankings.

Email Newsletter

Email marketing is an important tool for marketing your business and building customer loyalty. You should have a newsletter subscription form on your website and give your customers and website visitors a compelling reason to sign up. Once you have your email list, you can use an email marketing tool like MailChimp to send out a monthly newsletter. You can also add your latest blog post to your newsletter.

Email Signature

Adding your latest post to your email signature is another great way to generate some additional traffic.

The key to managing a successful business blog and getting more readers is by posting quality and I often say “compelling” content. If you’re posting good stuff and getting it out there for your customers to find, your content will be well received, read more and shared more often.

It makes for a lot of work to post to all of those sites every time you update your blog. I wonder if there are automated methods to help? If I tried this manually it would take ages.

You can use the share buttons on your blog but most of the times it is up to the user if he/she wants to share the content. So using the share button goes hand in hand with creating quality content.

Nice Post! Keep up the good work.
